![]() How I got into the sport: I started training for triathlons as a senior in high school. Up until that point I had spent the majority of my life in a pool as a year round distance swimmer, competing at the state and national levels. When I graduated high school, and completed my swimming career, I needed something to occupy my time, and a new challenge. Several friends of mine, Ironman and pro tri-athletes, convinced me to try a triathlon, while providing me with a bike and free training! After several weeks of training, I completed my first sprint triathlon in May of 2006, and won my age group! I was hooked from there! For the next few seasons I continued to compete in sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, and continued to win my age group in each.
It wasn’t until 2008 that I even considered something more than the shorter distance triathlons. The same friend that got me into triathlons convinced me I was very capable of doing an Ironman, so I registered in the fall of 2008. After a year of training, I competed in Ironman Louisville as the youngest female athlete. That revived my love for triathlon, and I have been hooked even more since then! I still love competing sprint and Olympic distances while training, but my passion is Ironman, and I plan to do many more over the next few years. Coaching Experience
Currently, I am a swim coach for middle and high school aged swimmers on a very talented YMCA swim team. I have been coaching them since graduating from the University of Kentucky in May of 2010. Also upon graduation, I received my USAT Level I Coaching certification to coach tri-athletes of diverse abilities, competing at a variety of levels. I am anxious to coach, encourage, and assist triathletes in the way that I have been in my triathlon career, and look forward to the results and joy I can see in others as they compete!
