Lactate Threshold Testing

Fee: $95 per test

Mideast Multisport now offering Bike and Run lactate threshold testing at a low cost right here in Lexington!  Lactate threshold testing is one of the most common and effective performance markers used by endurance athletes and coaches at all levels.  Lactate Threshold Testing is essential in establishing your training program.  Once your threshold is established, you will be able to implement various training intensities, ultimately helping you achieve your athletic goals!

Each test session lasts about an hour (including set-up time, warm-up, test, and cool down) and will cost $95 per test.  After completing this test, we will set up your heart rate training zones based on the reading of your blood lactate levels.  You will receive your results, your lactate threshold heart rate, plus your training zones (to include power zones if needed on the bike).  Here is an example of what you would receive for your Heart Rate Zones:

Zone Name Lower Limit Upper Limit
1 - Recovery 109 137
2 - Extensive Endurance 138 149
3 - Intensive Endurance 150 156
4 - Sub-Threshold 157 166
5a - Threshold 167 170
5b - Anaerobic Endurance 172 176
45c - Power 177 183

The test requires a small needle prick (that is basically painless) in order to obtain a blood sample. We use the Lactate Pro Portable Blood Lactate Analyzer in order to test your blood lactate levels. We will also be using a CompuTrainer ™ in order to ensure proper watts during the bike test and all of this can be done on the comfort of your own bike!  Run test will be conducted on a treadmill.  Tests will be conducted at Swim Bike Run of Kentucky, located at 320 N. Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502. This test would be very beneficial for anyone training by heart rate and/or power, and athletes competing in any distance event, from Sprint to an Ironman.  Please contact Coach Beth Atnip to set up an appointment: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 859-396-3220.
